I made a mess of the aquatint on this plate [link] so I had to redo the plate from scratch.

There are so many poorly wiped plates in the etching section of DA. It's nice to see that someone knows how to wipe (as bizarre aas that sounds). The shadows beneath the fish are really nice too. They give it extra dimension.

thanks, its nice someone appreciates what a job it is to wipe a plate, thankfully this isnt as big as some of my other plates, which can take over 20mins just to wipe.

That's really one of the most difficult parts of etching, especially when you're trying to make an edition. I know a lot of people who can get through all of the technical stages of intaglio, but as soon as they get to the wiping, they just can't get it and give up on printmaking altogether.

I focused on printmaking in college, but it's definitely not a hugely popular medium. It's so nice to talk to another printmaker. :D

I think i like the process of printing more then i like the finished prints :) you should check out [link] for some more printmakers on DA there's alot of print stuff posted to DA but alot is just student work, people do one semester and then never print again, saying that there are some fantastic printmakers knocking around here
