Total printmaking nerdy talk. This plate was great fun to make as it was alot of playing around and just having fun testing some ideas. Copper plate aquatinted then the tone was done as a spit bite rather then with ground. Spit biting is were you paint directly onto the plate with pure acid - used a mixture of nitric and ferric [though not at the same time of course], then used hardground to get the background tone. Did some test prints and re-aquatinted the plate and did a second spit bite. Finally put hardground on the whole plate and added the line, I put the hardground on thin in certain parts of the plate to try and get some false bite just to play around with that effect.
